The team won its first ever Champ Car title in 2008 and repeated again in 2009 with team owner/driver Mark Plourde. The team was formed in January 2003 and was named MP Racing. For 2010, The team will again line up with drivers Mark & Sheri Plourde. The team will operate with a new general manager as it welcomes long time Nascar manager Doug Murray to the team in 2010. In 2009 MP Racing already made history as the team won the title and up and coming driver Sheri Plourde finished in the top four in the overall standings. Sheri became the first female driver to score a top five finish when she was 4th in the grand prix of Holland in (2008). Sheri will again pilot the #27 MI-Jack/Tide car on a full time basis in 2010. Sheri drove four races towards the end of the 2008 season with a best finish of fourth. Mark Plourde will campain the #1 McDonalds/Lexington/Gulfstream car for the 2010 season.
Started as a one-car outfit in 2003, the team founded and owned by Mark Plourde. In 2008 the team went through some changes with personnel but finished the year with solid results as Mark Plourde drove to perfection and earned the team's first ever Champ Car title. The team expanded to a solid two-car team starting in 2004 and earned its highest-ever season finish that year with the veteran Mark Plourde using five top-five runs to finish a strong sixth in the season standings. The Indianapolis-based squad has become a very strong team over the years. MP Racing is led by new General Manager Doug Murray, a successful veteran motorsports manager with over 22 years experience. Doug joins MP Racing from the Grand Am Series where he most recently worked for Gelles Racing.
