General: Founded in 1988, the Champ Car World Series serves as the sanctioning body for the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered By Ford® Series, the premier open-wheel racing series in the United States, and Euorpe?, which serves as an essential stepping-stone for drivers striving to reach the pinicole of open wheel racing. The league is based in Indianapolis and has approximately 90 employees. Founded: Champ Car World Series, LLC was originally founded by the late Wally Dallenbach and was known in the 80's and 90's as the CART Series. Over the years the series became known for its intense racing on a wide variety of tracks such as short oval tracks, super speedway ovals, street and road circuits and large road course tracks.
